Sustainable development is at the heart of the common transport policy. This objective, introduced by the Treaty of Amsterdam, integrates environmental considerations into Community policies.

If nothing is done, CO² emissions from transport are expected to rise by 50% in Europe by 2010 (EU SOURCE).

By acquiring a fleet of merchant sailing vessels CTMV has become the first in France to make a public commitment to a sustainable economic development project, thanks to the fleet's use of renewable energy. It will meet environmental requirements and popular demand at the same time.

To transfer our client's goods to our fleet, moored off in Bordeaux, we use 2 transport channels : the Canal du Midi, a historical structure conceived in 1667, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. River transport is greener than road transport and actually burns 5 times less fuel.

In the interests of flexibility, we use rail transport.
