Sail of the century
Last June, wine supplier Fair Wind Wines made its first-ever delivery of 35 pallets of wine onto the jetty at Berth No 4, Sir John Rodgerson's Quay, Dublin. But no ordinary wine delivery this. There hadn't been a wine delivery like it for nearly 110 years. For FWW doesn't just deliver by standard freighter but by tall sailing ship-in this case, the 109-year-old Kathleen & May.While 14 of those first pallets were destined for Gibeys and O'Briens Wines, the rest headed out into the independent off-trade and the company returned to Sir John Ridgerson's Quay to deliver another 30 pallets for distribution to independent off-licences last October.
